The 49ers will try to take out the Rams for a third time in a row when they lock horns on Monday, October 13. Sports software services saw that San Francisco was able to sweep two NFC West divisional games last year against St. Louis, and in both occasions they were the ones to cover as favorites, which include a 35-11 win over the Rams in Week 4.
San Francisco’s betting line opened with them being the favorites by four points. 43.5 was the total.
The 49ers were able to go for an impressive 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine meetings as the favorites on the road.
San Francisco was dominating the running game, as on 40 carries the team recorded a total of 219 rushing yards, in comparison to 18 on 19 for the Rams. Frank Gore, 49ers RB, was the one to lead with 153 yards made on 20 carries and a TD, and in the team’s last two games – both of them wins – the player recorded 226 yards.
This season, St. Louis was having a very tough time while trying to stop the running game, as they surrendered on the ground 152.5 yards-per-game. San Francisco could use that weakness to their advantage and win again on the road.
The Rams managed to stay close in their last three meetings even though they could only win and cover one. In St. Louis’ last two clashes, they ended up blowing a lead of 21-0 to the Cowboys in their 34-31 loss at home, and when they faced the Eagles while on the road, they almost completed an unbelievable comeback from a deficit of 34-7 in dropping a decision of 34-28.
But sports software services believe that not all is bad for the Rams, as QB Austin Davis did a very job as a replacement, and many fans have plenty of faith in the player.
When the Rams took on the Eagles, Davis was able to throw for 375 yards with no interceptions and three TD’s scored. The 49ers don’t have a lot of footage of the player that they can study, so he could create a very big surprise for St. Louis when this game gets underway.
