NFL Odds: Contract Agreement Updates

NFL - 2015 Regular SeasonTis the season to make agreements and the NFL odds have taken note of quite a few this past week.

Free agent defensive end Anthony Spencer, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, will be moving to the New Orleans Saints this season after settling on a one year deal. Spencer has career record of 390 tackles, 33 sacks and 14 forced fumbles in eight seasons.

“Probably No. 1, make sure we don’t overuse him,” defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said. “He’s kind of on a quiet pitch count, but he’s had a good week of work. He hasn’t played in a year, so he’s practiced well. He’s got all the things you want. Hopefully this week and every week after this, he gets better and better. Once you get a guy like that, then it starts helping everybody.”

Mike Pouncey has reached a deal with the Miami Dolphins for an extension of 5 years with a paycheck of $52.1 million. The pro-bowler had to play guard last season, instead of his usual center, due to a previous hip injury.

Online Bookmakers report that the Denver Broncos have agreed to a one year deal with James Casey. Casey was released by the Eagles in February due to a need to lose $4 million for the salary cap as he rarely used.

Last year Casey caught 34 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions and Mathew Stafford have reached a 72 million for a 6 year deal with 41.7 in guarantees and if Stafford fulfills his playing incentives could make a staggering 78 million.

“It’s crazy,” Stafford said. “I feel like you can’t write it any better than that. It’s a wild story, and it’s good to be living it.”

The Lions have had a dismal record of 31-97 since 2001 and they hope that with this record setting deal for a draft pick they can change their NFL odds.

“We have a number of needs,” first-year coach Jim Schwartz said. “The No. 1 need is talent.”

There are still many more contracts to be haffled over and NFL odds will be changing as they do.
