John Fox hired as the Bears’ new head coach

On Friday, the Bears announced that they reached a deal with John Fox for him to fill their head coaching position. Bookmaker software services now believe that the team can seriously improve their game and make it very far next season.

Sources reported that the agreement was for a four-year contract.

For the last four years, Fox was the head coach of the Broncos, leading the team to consecutive spots in the playoffs and an appearance at a Super Bowl. However, after the Colts surprised the Broncos at home when their divisional playoff meeting took place, Fox and Denver decided to split ways.

From 2002-2010, Fox was the Panthers’ head coach, and was able to help the team make it to the Super Bowl in the season of 2003.

First, Chicago acquired the services of GM Ryan Pace last week, and he was leading a vigorous search for the head coaching position.

Even though Fox was able to build contenders for the Super Bowl in the time that he spent with the Broncos, John Elway, vice president of the team’s football operations, made the decision that the best thing was for both to go their separate ways.

Chicago searched thoroughly, as they had interviews with Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, Lions DC Teryl Austin, Broncos OC Adam Gase, and ex-Bills coach Doug Marrone.

The next thing for Fox to do is to get his staff assembled. Even though earlier during the week Jack Del Rio was hired by the Raiders, both teams could compete for the services of assistant coaches, and many fans wonder who will get these roles.

Sources also reported that Chicago could try to interview Mike Mularkey as the team’s OC.

The first priority that Fox has would be to try and work out QB Jay Cutler’s future. The player, who last offseason signed a contract worth $127 million, going for 7 years, had a very bad season with the team, leading the NFL when it came to turnovers. Marc Trestman and the team’s whole front office ended up being fired, something that didn’t come as a surprise to many fans.

One more challenge that the coach has to reassemble a defense that ended in a very low place in almost every aspect, and bookmaker software services don’t see this as being a very easy task at all.

Having a very talented roster, the coach has to build on the players’ talents and help them reach the top of their game.
