Soccer- Mariano Pavone Signs with Blackburn Rovers

After a year with River, and despite interest from other Argentine clubs like San Lorenzo, Independiente, and Lanus, the Argentine striker Mariano Pavone agreed to terms with the Blackburn Rovers over the weekend and will sign a three-year contract with the Price per Head Premier League football club. For the Estudiantes champion striker, this will be his second time in the European football after playing between 2007 and 2010 with the Spanish League club Real Betis.

The 29-year-old Pavone, will join the Rovers as a free agent after finishing his contract with Real Betis of Spain. The powerful striker played last season as a loan with River Plate of Argentina, scoring eight goals in 18 games, including one in the second leg of the relegation zone playoffs that his team played against Belgrano de Córdoba, which ended 1-3.

Before all of his great achievements, Pavone left his childhood club Boca Juniors at the age of 14, and went on to feature for Estudiantes de La Plata in the Argentine first division for seven years.  After that, Pavone signed for Real Betis in late June 2007. In his first two seasons, he failed to impress, but had a good run from November 2007-January 2008, when he scored six goals in five matches. Pavone only scored twice in 2008–09, and Betis returned him to the second division after nine years. He was supposed to sign with Calcio Catania in Italy on February 1, 2010, but the negotiation was cancelled.

On July 23, 2010, Club Atlético River Plate and Betis arranged a one-year loan deal for Pavone, who returned to his country after three years. However, the club had a terrible season and lost in a decisive game against Club Atlético Belgrano. Pavone had a decent season; however, his team River Plate fell to the second division after losing against Atletico Belgrano with an overall score of 3-1.

Now, Pavone is looking forward to a great season with Blackburn and the club is expecting the best level of play from the Argentinean striker.
